Feeling the Warm Glow of Gratitude

gratitude

I find it all too easy to dwell on the things in life that aren’t going too well and when I do it can further lower my mood and confidence. Remembering that we have plenty to be grateful for, even during challenging times, can give a deep sense of happiness.

Recently I’ve been reading “Homemaking as a Social Art” by Veronika Van Duin and trying very hard to think with my heart! Not an easy task with my scientific nature. One of the many important messages I have taken from this book refers to gratitude. She writes:

Gratitude is an attitude of soul, rather than an action, and so paves the way for growth and change. It opens doors and overcomes barriers between people. Acknowledging each other’s efforts makes daily life so very much more pleasant.”

Every Friday waldorf mama posts on her blog with just a few reasons to be grateful. Since I stumbled across her wonderful blog, it has given me a warm glow to share this simple weekly post and I’d really like to take this idea on here too.

There are always many good things that touch our lives and what better way to truly appreciate them than to take a moment or two out of our busy lives to focus on the good stuff!

This week I am grateful for…………….

:: my very special mum who I appreciate more everyday as I struggle to be a good mum to my little boy, something she appeared to do so effortlessly, for six of us!

:: having someone to call me ‘Mummy’ after 13 years of hoping – my dear, sweet boy you make your mummy very happy :) .

:: having discovered Steiner Waldorf Education and the wisdom of Rudolf Steiner – the more I unearth the more it all makes sense.

:: the beautiful spring sunshine that has brightened up our days this week.

What are you grateful for?
